Keeping the holidays healthy can be a challenge. With all of the delicious baked goods, rich food and spirits, it is important to mix in some healthy (and equally delicious!) dishes in there. This year, our favorite recipe is from the National Dairy Council - Wine-Poached Pear and Cheddar Salad with Balsamic Vinaigrette.
Washington State Dairy Council staff dietitian, Martha Marino, helped to craft this recipe after working with Jamie Callison, Executive Chef at Washington State University. This salad has rich, warm flavors and is perfect for the winter. The finished product has beautiful notes of cinnamon and cloves. Paired with a sharp white cheddar or a crumbly, blue veined cheese, this salad is the perfect mix of flavors. Try out this delightful new “pear-ing” for your holiday meals.
